Mr. Akhmad, our head of lab, while moving to the new lecturers office complex at the 2nd floor of our Laboratory building had found some old pictures of the moving process of our department office to the new administration building, back in 2000.

Do you know that our department office has moved 3 times? Even some of our older alumni are already envy of our current students with so many facilities that they now can enjoy, which includes state of the art ergonomic center at human factor laboratory, SEMS lab, computer center, reading corner, 2 students center for undergraduate and postgraduate program and other facilities.

When IEUI born in 1998,our first office is located in the 2nd floor of the Mechanical Engineering Department’s Administration building. It just comprise of 2 tables for the head of department: Mr. Dachyar plus Mr Akhmad as 1st Department Secretary, and also some cabinets. Our first lab, Industrial Engineering and Management Lab, also located in the 2nd floor, next to the office. Lecturers offices are still group together with MEUI lecturers.

Our 2nd office, are located at the currently PAF service area (Faculty Academic Office) (of course before the renovation). At that time the area is still even do not have proper access road leading to our office. Previously, it was used for finances office, so the whole area windows is surrounded by iron bar so tight that even if you release a bird inside, it cannot fly out. We even joke that we are the actually industrial biology department, since we are working in a “birdcage”.

Our 3rd and current office is the Administration Building, supported by our alumni and industry sponsors, finished in 2000. It was the 1st building of its kind in UI that are supported by alumni and industry. The 2 floor building was indeed a fresh air comparing to all of our previous building. (we even has to be skipped many years in a row in the “Cleanliness Competitiveness” between departments in faculty of engineering, due to “unfair” advantage). We started moving immediately after the building was finished. You can see the “young” Babeh Mursyid as the captain of the team in one of the pictures, moving the old furniture to the new building. Babeh Mursyid is the oldest administration employee in our department since 1999.
